How DJs Transition To Different Genres Using SYNC

How DJs Mix Between Genres

When mixing genres, DJs can use various techniques and methods. There are easy transitions such as using a drop mix or simple FX and advanced methods like finger drumming to a new BPM or using acapellas and switching the beat. We cover all of these techniques and more in our dedicated DJ Transitions Course but here is a free tutorial from the course to help you get started.

Lesson 1: Using SYNC to transition from a high to low BPM

Using the SYNC feature is a great way to transition between genres that have a drastic difference in BPM. In this tutorial taken directly from the DJ transitions course, we show you how to move from a house song to a pop remix. That’s 122bpm – 106bpm in one mix.

Hi, ive been trying to wrap my head around it. But in the “mix different genres” video the visuals go opposite from my expectation. Like the grid of both tracks goes the same speed before sync. And after sync. the bottom track goes quicker though thats when they should go synchrone??

How did you activate the loop in Serato before the track got to the loop?

Hey, if you click the icon in this image after saving a loop it will activate the loop before reaching that point.
