Engine DJ 5.3 is out now for all Denon DJ, RANE and Numark Engine hardware, along with a new version of Engine DJ Desktop. It’s a fairly small update, but there are a few nice additions worth knowing about.
VirtualDJ on the RANE SYSTEM ONE
VirtualDJ now works with OmniSource on the SYSTEM ONE, on both Mac and Windows. If your library’s already set up in VirtualDJ, that makes the SYSTEM ONE a much easier switch.
PRIME 4 G2 pad upgrades
In XY FX pad mode, you can now use all 8 FX pads at the same time to layer effects together. The Noise Gate pads also get a new Noise Riser, which sweeps up and down over 8 beats while you hold it, with Reverb on the Y axis. It’s handy for building tension before a drop. And when you’re holding multiple Hot Cue or Roll pads, the newest one you press now always takes focus.
Playlist Reimport on Desktop
If you’ve imported a playlist from Serato, rekordbox, Traktor or Apple Music, you can now refresh it with a Reimport button whenever tracks have been added or removed. Just bear in mind it overwrites the Engine version of that playlist. There’s also a new one-click Import button, so you no longer need the right-click menu.
There’s also the usual batch of fixes, including streaming services signing in automatically on boot, some Stem Level soft takeover fixes, a memory fix for longer sets and macOS 27 support on Desktop.
How to Update
You should see the update notification on your device, or you can grab it from the Engine DJ website. As always, we’d avoid updating right before a gig.
