Hi - on my ddj-200 i can only hear the music through the speakers if the master and 1 & 2 are lit up - which i think is the opposite of what it should be. I'm not sure how to get it working as it should.

Hi, it sounds like the split audio isn't set up quite right. With the DDJ-200, the speaker should normally play the Master output, and the 1 / 2 cue buttons are only for what you hear in your headphones. If you're using the split cable, make sure split/mono output is turned on in rekordbox, and check the cable is connected the right way round: speakers to the master side, headphones to the headphone side.

why arent my BPMs the same as in the course? my house loops are all in the 60 range for BPMs

This is usually just down to how Rekordbox has analysed the loop. It sounds like it's detected the BPM at half the correct tempo, so a 120 BPM house loop is showing as 60 BPM. Easy fix though. Load the track, open the Grid panel, and click the ×2 button. This doubles the analysed BPM and adjusts the beat grid to match, so your 60 BPM loop should become 120 BPM (or whatever the correct tempo is).

I only use one software. Will I actually use all the courses?

More than you'd think. Say you mix on rekordbox: start with the beginner and intermediate courses, then go deep on your favourite genre with our Techno, House or Hip Hop courses. Level up with the Transitions and Scratching courses, and when you're ready to play out, How To Get DJ Gigs has you covered. Can't I just learn all this on YouTube?

YouTube's great, and we should know, because we've been making DJ videos there since 2014. But when you're starting from scratch, it's hard to know where to begin or which videos to trust, and watching the world's best DJs can leave you feeling like you'll never get there. Our courses give you a clear, step-by-step path from your first mix to playing out, with real DJs in the comments when you get stuck. Use YouTube alongside it, just don't rely on it alone.

I don't know where to start, and I don't have any music. Is that a problem?
