What’s new?

It was only two years ago that Denon DJ revealed the ground breaking SC5000 players to the world, a year since they followed it up with the incredible Prime 4 standalone player. The SC6000 inherits the on board hard drive bay from the Prime 4 which is great for venues to preload the players with back up music should the DJ have a nightmare with his media.

However, regardless of how powerful the technology inside is, the professional market has always been critical of the appearance and feel of the Denon DJ Prime series. In a world of dark DJ booths occupied by black decks, the bright colours of the previous DJ players stood out like a sore thumb and had some trouble being accepted.

This is why the SC6000 is such a welcome update, even if it is quite a small one. Premium knobs on the control dials, darker rubber pads with minimal lighting and a locking power connectors all help turn the SC6000 into the player that’s truly built for the professional DJ booth.

Long gone is the plastic look and feel of the previous players, the fake chrome browse controls and the bright performance pads. With a 3 inch larger screen and 0.5 inch wider jog wheel, the SC6000 player makes use of it’s chassis far better with some key buttons relocated to allow DJ’s to navigate the player quicker. Add this to the changes in build materials and you get a device where the small changes really add up to create a far superior range of players.

“It was only two years ago that Denon DJ revealed…” Three years ago actually. The M version was two years ago and the Prime 4 last year.
