In this course, we’ll teach you how to start using your controller’s performance features and effects. With tips, tricks and techniques that will help you to start thinking outside of the box and mixing creatively.

We want to help you stand out from the crowd by teaching you new mixing techniques that can help you develop your own unique style. Master hot cue’s, saved loops, slicer, sampler, slip mode and more!

This course contains 28 lessons (+10 DDJ-1000SRT Bonus Lessons) in which you’ll learn:

Getting Started
We’ll explain exactly how our lessons are structured and show you where to download the Crossfader music pack. The pack is full of exclusive music to help build your library.

Preparing Music For Creative Mixing
In this section of the course, we will demonstrate how to prepare your music library ready for creative mixing. A lot of creative transitions in a DJ set comes from well-prepared music via hot cues, or saved loops. We will break down where to set up hot cues and saved loops ready to mix and perform.

Mixing In Key
In this section of the course, you’ll learn the importance of music theory and how mixing in key can enhance your mixing and set preparation.

Taking Control Of The Mix
Learn how to use hot cues and saved loops to take control of your transitions and DJ sets. This part of the course will break you out of the mould of always mixing intro to outro. It will give you fresh new ideas to help vary your transitions and sets. There are lessons on how to mix tracks without intros (radio edits), ways to create energy or play to a crowd.

Serato FX
Learn how to use Serato’s inbuilt FX to make your mixes sounder cleaner and add another layer of creativity to your DJ sets. Combine these effects with other techniques taught throughout the course and build your confidence at performing creative transitions in the moment, rather than pre-planned.

Pioneer DDJ-1000SRT Effects
If you own the Pioneer DDJ-1000SRT, then we have developed a bonus section of the course to help you master its unique effects channel. The effects channel is built into the hardware rather than taking advantage of Serato DJ’s effects; therefore, even as a DDJ-1000SRT user, you’ll be able to get creative with your effects inside this course.

Mixing Techniques
In this section of the course, you’ll learn various mixing styles. Get creative with the slicer, sampler, roll and learn how to vary your mixes, so transitions don’t sound too repetitive.

The Crossfader music pack included in this course contains a variety of exclusive music produced by friends of Crossfader to help you build your library. A lot of the music inside this course can be found inside the music pack so you can follow along step-by-step. (Please note not all the music is included)

You will also have access to third-party music download links to help you build your library!

As a Crossfader student, you’ll also have access to this courses forum where you can meet and chat with other students and the tutor himself.

Our dedicated DJ tutor Jamie Hartley started working in the industry as a full-time DJ over a decade ago at the age of 16. Since 2014 he’s worked to build Crossfader from a small UK based DJ school where he taught aspiring DJs in his studio, into what you see today, a global online DJ school and community.

From working one to one for years in a studio, Jamie has developed foolproof and systematic ways of breaking down DJ skills and techniques so you can master them! A lot of other DJ schools will show you how things work rather than teaching you the creative skills needed to help you stand out from the crowd.
